A white desert here by the sea

Can we visit it later today

Are you not tired after your long journey

Then we shall depart within the hour

How far away is it

About a mile

Will I need special walking shoes

No trainers or normal soft shoes will do

 

This is amazing place

A white desert next to the sea

I can see its origins above us

These white cliffs are world famous

You can see them clearly from France

As we can see their cliffs across the channel

 

This area seems derelict

What was it in its former life

It was a military firing range up to few years ago

I believe a rifle club existed here as late as the 1980s

It looks like that it was abandoned many many years ago

That is the destruction of the sea

Every year a bit more goes

Another wall collapses

As you can see it is totally exposed here

 

You would think that a place like this

Would be bleak and without love

But the opposite is true

It is a spiritual place

 

Has anything awful happened here

Not to my knowledge

Why do you ask

I can feel ghosts here

We all feel these ghosts

 

I have a gift for you Sally

It is only a piece of driftwood

How sweet of you

Anna and I give the same gift to all our friends

And sometime I leave them for passers by
