Wyeth’s World

We are on the same shallow hill

That we were on five years ago

I am using the same camera

You are holding the same pose

As in Wyeth’s famous painting

But I notice that your figure is fuller

Your breasts are heavier and more rounded

I ask you to stay still in the rough grass

And to look at the heather in the middle distance

We finish within the hour as the light has changed

You tell me that you are heavy with child

My happiness is such that I hand you my devoted camera

An era has run its course I am no longer a photographer
