murray and mary and the crimson fairy

were straying in sent kent

in search of the glue man

who had haunted the fields and the lanes

of the area in the latter years of the war

 

it was a thankless task made more difficult

by the passing of the natural crimes

the fields and the lanes had not changed

but the rural rimes of the glue man

had faded from the memories of the chimes
