I have just finished his Grain Novels 

Which reflected his travels around Europe 

His experiences his loves his life 

But although I like his books 

This one has left me rather cold 

Perhaps he needs a rest from his writing 

I hugged my wife this morning 

As she has been troubled of late 

Because of the illness of her best friend 

And the intense medication received 

We stopped in a lane in a rural town 

And embraced warmly without distraction
