Valentine’s Day in Margate

Jane and I were in Margate yesterday in celebration of the day

I purchased six red balloons for Jane as she likes red balloons

We were off to see the new Banksy

As we both have the hots for the artist

But nothing happened as the normally totally useless council

Had moved the freezer and protected the artwork

Jane was disappointed so I treated her to fish and chips

We planned to eat our meal in the Nayland Rock Shelter

Where Tom Eliot wrote part of The Wasteland

Sadly the shelter was in such a mess that we could not rest there

So we sat near the tidal pool with the balloons tied to the railings

That was a mistake as the psychotic seagulls swooped down for our chips

And whilst mugging us accidentally released the six red balloons

We watched them as they floated serenely into the Turner sky

And were shocked when they were shot down

By the local ground to air missiles

But worse was to come as Jane and I

Were later arrested for reading Du Fu

At the railway station

Whilst waiting for a cancelled train
