Abstract Expressionism had it roots in Post War America
It was supposed to represent American values
And obviously promoted White Straight
Far away from the Communist disease
It was a strong male genre
Which was deeply homophobic
I was a typical artist of this period
Living in a huge studio
Working barefoot
Wearing paint splashed jeans
My work consisted of large expanses of colour
Which acted as a base for a drip technique
These works were enormously popular
And I became rather wealthy
But I refused to stray from my roots
As I stayed married to my childhood sweetheart
And was a regular churchgoer
On the flip side however I often got into fights
And drove fast cars when inebriated
I taunted faggots without mercy
As I did not see them as real men
This brought me into contact with the law
But my money always pulled me away
I thrived in the toxic masculinity of the era
And reported suspected Reds to the authorities
I considered myself
A Good American Boy
And an experienced
