Fabbinsso Feba is a small fishing village
On the other side of the world
I rocked up there after splitting
With my partner Alison
I arrived with nothing more than my paints
A couple of pads and a box of pencils
Much to my surprise I was made welcome
Possibly because I was a lost English artist
Or maybe they could sense my searing pain
I stayed there for three years
Always just avoiding deportation
As my papers were not in order
A great deal of my best work
Was created in Fabbinsso Feba
It has sold very well especially in New York
And although I have returned to live
In the country of my birth
I still have close ties with my adopted home
And through the sale of my paintings
Have been able to finance a school and a couple of nurseries
My gallery and I have also arranged cross cultural trips
For those who want to experience life in the United Kingdom
This has made me very popular yet I stay in the shadows
As it was Fabbinsso Feba that saved me from my own hand
And for that I will be eternally grateful
