Léopoldine was a quiet girl friendly but rather reserved
Who without much attention wrote a number of strange poems
These were dismissed at the time as a confectionery
She did not write any known poetry after the age of twenty-four
And later travelled widely with her husband Paul Laval
Today Léopoldine is remembered more for her travel books
And the odd nature of her 1903 disappearance in Peru
Than for the extraordinary poetry of her early years
