There is a spot in the churchyard
On the brow of the hill looking towards Windsor
Where I used to sit for hours and hours when a boy
This was my favourite spot
I have quoted from a letter penned by Byron
He is writing about St Mary’s Church in Harrow
I know it well and it saddens me when I revisit the area
How different the town is now some two hundred years later
It is grey urban anonymous and looking rather tired
I often wonder what the poet might have thought
If he returned to Harrow in a passing dream
