Nu du matin

Nu du matin Jane
Nu du matin Will

When I awoke Jane was not in our bed

The cat was nowhere to be seen

I lay back and felt the humid air

Drift across our pale blue room

I thought of calling this poem

The Dog Days of Summer

But future events

Would change my mind

As I drifted down the main stairs

I heard Cleopatra purring in the garden

Jane was playing with her using a blue ribbon

The ribbon had once belonged to my favourite doll Jessica

It was then that I noticed that

Jane was wearing my deep red tee shirt

Which because of shrinking was exposing her bum

My beautiful wife did not seem to care

And the cat was more interested in the ribbon

My favourite doll was still mourning her loss

Out of the common view I stood naked on the terrace

The Naked Mornings of Summer

Our neighbours walked into their garden

Good Morning Mrs Spears

Good Morning Will

Good Morning Cleopatra

Jane smiled

I love these August mornings

It is like being in the tropics

Minus the servants

Will would you make some coffee

I have just employed this servant

He is useless but nice to look at

I must say I agree

Does he come from the colonies

No just Guildford

A fine specimen

He has his uses

Our son is coming to see us

Which one

Michael

Is he the one in the church

Very much he has his own parish now

How nice

But it is so far away

I love North Yorkshire

But it is such a drive

Three hours

Gerald why are you naked

Because it seems to be the done thing

I am not naked

You are my dear

I am wearing a gown

Without a belt

I do not think that Jane cares

Who am I to cast the first stone Iris

I like your tee shirt

A beautiful red

It belongs to Will

He has nice taste

But as you can see I have shrunk it

I wish my bottom was nice as yours

I blame the church as mine was never the same

But Christopher was kind to me

As I was no longer a novelty

I brought the coffee out on a tray

Come and join us

Will two more cups

Come as you are or less

We are all the same

Jane removed my tee shirt

I wished that she had not done that

As the sight of her breasts always made me hard

Just look at him

Are you still at prep school Will

Thumbing through your mucky magazines

I am sorry but -

Do not worry I am glad he has the strength

Gerald is not the man he once was

It is the shrapnel my dear

Gerald when did you go to war

I have a variety of toys if you get my drift

Do not tell Will but so do I

He has his dolls and I have my vibrators

You must come around some time

We can exchange notes and ideas

And I have this amazing cream

So soothing and subtly perfumed

And there in ended deep in rural Norfolk

Four naked people in the garden

Enjoying morning coffee

Not exactly friends

But comfortable with each other

Quite what the cat made of it

Was open to interpretation

As it was more interested in the bugs

Jessica's ribbon lay abandoned near the roses

I was soon sent in to fetch some biscuits

Good servants are so hard to find these days

It was as I was opening the Rose Lime Tin

That I heard a car pull up nearby

I glanced out of the window

It was Michael and his family

They had made good time

The roads had been kind

I quickly dressed

The Theatre of the Absurd

Was to be the title of this modest piece

I tried to suppress a smile

The kettles on again

And I will be out in a moment

With the Rose Lime biscuits
