The Antebellum South describes a period between 1812 and 1861
I do not know much about this period in American History
As I am partially sighted as well as being profoundly deaf
Yet although I have severe problems with my sight
I can see the rakes of carriages that are wintered at the end my garden
My favourite carriage and the one most used by the Heritage Railway
Has a pale white and cream skin with a splash of violet green
Not surprisingly it is called
The Southern Belle
But there are those that dislike
This the most beautiful of railway carriages
Because of its supposed history
A history of cruelty and white privilege
Due to my disabilities I am blind to this history
And to be truthful I do not really care
These people can decay in drill hell
I am loyal to my beautiful railway carriage
I am loyal to the Southern Belles
I have a portrait of Sallie Ward
Above my happy bed
My sister
Bless Her
Reads to me
Tales of Southern Hospitality
My sister
Bless Her
Is a beauty and has a flirtatious
Yet chaste demeanour
We often walk
Hand in Hand
Around and Around
Our Southern Garden
And when the hour is quiet
We board the Southern Belle
And discuss why we
Are the favoured
Children of God
