The Mackerel Boat

The heat of the September afternoon

Was showing no signs of releasing its grip

I had just left the beach and noticed

A large white yacht moored In the deep waters

Opposite the weather worn coastguards cottage

This happened occasionally and did not attract much attention

That was until Lilith stood on the deck

Offering free mackerel to those who lived in the village

She then dived into the sea holding a transparent bag

And passed it to a slender woman in a black dress

According to inn keeper she would do this

To celebrate her birthday on hot days such as today
