I once fell asleep on a nudist beach in the South of France

It was the most luxurious sleep that I have ever enjoyed

I say I slept but I was aware of the sounds of the waves

And the idle chatter of other people on the beach

When I awoke I was surprised to find myself naked

Without even a cool white sheet to cover me

I watched Lenny who had turned yellow and blue

Under the massive parasol that we had hired

He was idly reading Nice-Matin whilst quietly admiring

The beautiful women who were populating the beach

I felt so free and totally at peace with the warm soft sand

I was even at peace with myself which was something rare

I still sleep on beaches as it is an experience that I cherish

We now live by the sea and on certain days

I trot down to the beach to find a suitable spot

And then after curling tightly up

I begin my silk silent journey
