May Morning

Many years ago Jenna Soar-Smith and I made front page news

We were students at Oxford University and almost by accident became friends

I say friends but it could be better described as drinking pals

She watched by back and I watched hers when we were drunk

We were not intimate far from it as I was not really attracted to her

We were although rather loud just ordinary but privileged students

Our exposure to the world was almost accidental

As we had planned to attend Oxford’s May Morning celebrations

We stumbled out of an unknown bar and found our place

On Magdalen Bridge in the misty early morning hours

The Magdalen College Choir were welcoming the new season

From the heights of the church tower when Jenna said she very hot

In an instant she removed her fire red party dress and stood in her panties

I decided to join her and removed my jacket and shirt and my stained college tie

Then to my surprise Jenna climbed on to the parapet of the bridge

Sensing danger I climbed up and grabbed her free hand

And then she jumped taking me with her into the chilly river

This instantly sobered me up and as I swam towards the bank

I could see a couple of cops waiting for us on the slipway

Jenna did not help matters by hugging a young policeman

That was when a majority of the topless photographs were taken

We were both arrested for an unspecified offence

But were released within the hour

That is the limit of my memory

I cannot remember anything after that

This was until the following morning when my college contacted me

Jenna and I were front page news and her rather large breasts

Seemed to be celebrated even in the more serious newspapers

My college served me with a temporary suspension

Which although I thought rather draconian at the time

Was their way of protecting me from the media frenzy

I tried to contact Jenna but she had returned home

This was our fifteen minutes of fame and then it faded

Almost two weeks passed before I saw Jenna again

We were almost shy of each other and promised to sober up

Jenna and I only met occasionally over the next two years

And that was how it ended as we drifted apart

This was until two weeks ago when Jenna contacted me out of the blue

How she even found me was quite an achievement

As I was now farming in the Highlands not far from Fort William

I had inherited Glabbock when my father died

And the farm had been my way of life since then
