Yesterday

I answered the door

And was greeted

By a chap

Who gave me a leaflet

About the Tory candidate

I assured him

That it was my intention

To vote Conservative

As I had always done

We chatted for a while

And he observed

That I was a typical

Conservative supporter

White Middle Class Highly Educated

And above all

Decent

I told him that whilst

I was English

On my mothers side

My fathers mother

Was Jewish

And from Seville

He said

That Socialism does not work

It has never worked

I smiled and told him
