as they dance under my window 

six years ago a velvet box 

was left in my room 

whilst I was sleeping 

a message written crudely 

warned me not to open the box 

this I have noted and have left the box 

in its original position near the window 

at night it glows red yellow black and green 

a heat is detectable even if the air is cool 

tempted I am tempted to open the box 

but am terrified about what I might find
