A white yacht lay at anchor in the bay It appeared deserted with no signs of life But I knew that it was trapped in the doldrums

A high tide was due during the thirteenth hour but came and went without notice or disturbance and then retreated into the haze from where it had originally started its journey

On some summer days when the conditions match a stillness covers our beach with only the motion of the waves breaking the screaming silence of the day   Today was such a day a late summers day when the dynamics of the air muffled any sound no matter how hard the source
